Smudge Black Waterproof Khol Liner Review

Eyeliners have been around for centuries. Not only has the lined-eye look been a hit in almost every modern decade (especially the swinging 60s), but women as far back as Cleopatra in Ancient Egypt wore black ringed eyes. With kohl liners getting better by the day, recreating these flicks and wings is now easier than ever. From a gentle smudged line to a solid grungy eye, there are so many looks to choose from, making eyeliner the quickest way to transform your look from day to night.

I tried my Smudge Black Waterproof Khol Liner after receiving it in my April rubybox. Being a bit of an eyeliner fanatic, I’ve tried loads of different brands, and I’m happy to say that Smudge lived up to my expectations! It glides on very easily and has a waxy texture, so there’s no bumpy eyeliner in sight (even rookies can’t mess this eyeliner up!). As the name suggests it smudges easily and creates a perfect Avril Lavigne look- striking and ready for a night out on the town!

One thing to look out for though- because of the smudge-factor (that makes application a breeze), you should set your eyeliner with powder eye shadow- this way it’ll stay put all day or night. For something a bit different, I used a coloured eye shadow over the eyeliner instead of my usual black, to create a colourful eyeliner effect. This is fun for daytime and looked less harsh than black does.

Our tip for applying eyeliner? Hold your eyeliner pencil parallel to your face instead of directly at your eye, as this makes application easier. When doing a smokey eye, apply the liner on the inside rim of your top eyelashes for a more dramatic effect.

Smudge liners are made in Spain and exclusively available from selected Clicks stores.
